Laboratory Services

This document details the Laboratory Services feature under the Laboratory management module in the HelloClinic system. This page is where you'll create and manage the price list for all laboratory tests your clinic offers or outsources.

Feature Overview

The Laboratory Services feature is a core setup function used to pre-configure all laboratory test items for your clinic. It's not for recording individual patient test results, but rather for defining each service's name, type, supplier, cost, and price.

Once you've created a standardized service list here, you can quickly order tests from this list when consulting with patients, which helps you to:

  • Standardize service items: Ensure all laboratory test names and prices are consistent.
  • Streamline the ordering process: Doctors or nurses can quickly select the required items without manual input.
  • Clearly manage costs and profits: Distinctly differentiate the cost your clinic pays to the laboratory from the price charged to the patient.

Main Interface Features

The main interface is split into a "Background List" and a "Create Laboratory Service" window that pops up when you click "+ Create Laboratory Service."

1. Laboratory Service List and Filters

This is where you'll view the price list of all your created laboratory service items.

  • Filter and Search:
    • Search: Use this input box to quickly find specific items by entering a service name or keyword.
    • Type: Use the dropdown menu to filter the list based on the service type you've configured.
  • Add Service Button:
    • [+ Create Laboratory Service]: Located in the top right corner of the page, click this button to add a new laboratory service to your price list.
  • List Fields:
    • Name: The name of the laboratory service item (e.g., Complete Blood Count, Urinalysis).
    • Type: The classification you've set for this service (e.g., Hematology, Biochemistry).
    • Supplier: The supplier performing this test (usually an external partner laboratory). This data links to your "Suppliers" module.
    • Cost: The cost your clinic pays to the supplier.
    • Price: The service price your clinic charges the patient.
    • Actions: Operations you can perform on this service item (e.g., edit, delete).

2. Create Laboratory Service Window

After you click the [+ Create Laboratory Service] button, this form will pop up for you to fill in the service details.

Main Operation Workflow: How to Add a New Laboratory Service

  1. On the "Laboratory -> Laboratory Services" page, click the [+ Create Laboratory Service] button in the top right corner.

  2. The "Create Laboratory Service" form window will pop up.

  3. Please fill in the following required fields:

    • Name (Service Name): Enter the full name of the laboratory test item.
    • Type (Type): Enter the classification for this service to help with management and filtering.
    • Supplier (Supplier): Select the collaborating laboratory responsible for this test from the dropdown menu. This list is populated from the suppliers you've added in the "Suppliers" module.
    • Cost (Cost): Enter the fee your clinic needs to pay the supplier.
    • Price (Price): Enter the fee you will charge the patient.
  4. Once you've filled in all the information, click the [Create] button in the bottom right corner.

  5. After saving, the new service will appear in the "Laboratory Service List" and will be available for use when conducting consultations.

How to Manage Existing Services

  1. Find the service item you want to manage in the list.
  2. Click the Actions icon on the far right of that item to either edit or delete it.
  3. Edit: You can modify the service's name, price, and other information.
  4. Delete: If a service is no longer offered, you can delete it. Please proceed with caution, as this might affect historical accounting data.
