WhatsApp Business API Official Pricing Details (Hong Kong Region)

Important Notice: These charges are directly billed and settled by Meta (WhatsApp's parent company) based on usage. HelloClinic, as a technical service provider, does not make any adjustments or markups to these communication fees. We only assist you in connecting to and using this official service.

Pricing Model: Based on "Conversations"

WhatsApp Business API's pricing is not charged per individual message, but rather based on 24-hour conversation sessions. When you or a user initiates a conversation, all messages exchanged between both parties within the next 24 hours (regardless of quantity) will be counted as one billable conversation.

After 24 hours, if a business needs to send another message to the user, it will start a new billable conversation session.

Conversations are divided into four types, each with different pricing:

  1. User-Initiated (Service): When a user first messages your clinic to start a conversation. Commonly used for inquiries, appointments, and customer service.
  2. Business-Initiated: When your clinic proactively sends messages to users, starting a conversation. These are further categorized into three types based on content:
    • Utility: Sending information about specific transactions or account-related updates that users have agreed to receive. Examples: appointment confirmations, follow-up reminders, receipt notifications.
    • Authentication: Sending one-time passwords (OTP) to verify user identity. Example: login verification codes.
    • Marketing: Sending promotional offers, product information, service updates, and other non-transaction related messages.

Monthly Free Conversation Allowance

Meta provides each WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) with:

  • The first 1,000 "User-Initiated (Service)" conversations each month are completely free.

This means if your clinic primarily handles patient inquiries, the first 1,000 conversations will not incur any official Meta charges. Business-initiated conversations are not included in this free allowance.

  • Direct Meta Settlement: We emphasize again that all fees are calculated based on your actual usage and charged directly to your account by Meta. HelloClinic does not participate in the charging process or profit from it.
  • USD Pricing: Charges are in USD, and your credit card statement may vary due to exchange rates.
  • Ad Click Benefits: When users start conversations with your clinic through "Click-to-WhatsApp" ads on Facebook or Instagram, that conversation will enjoy a 72-hour free period instead of the standard 24 hours.
